Yaduveer Wadiyar Backs Karnataka’s Claim Over HAL Legacy Amid Naidu’s Industrial Push

Bengaluru, Karnataka — Responding to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s remarks regarding industrial development, BJP MP Yaduveer Wadiyar emphasized Karnataka’s historical role in shaping India’s aerospace sector, particularly with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

“Every state has the right to ask for industries to be brought to their state. It is imperative for the CM of that state to go to the Centre and ensure that establishments that come under the central leadership should come to their state,” Wadiyar stated, acknowledging Naidu’s efforts.

However, he underscored Karnataka’s foundational contribution to HAL: “Kannadigas birthed HAL. It was under Kannadiga leadership that the initial years of HAL saw success… When the mother institution is in Karnataka, it is the impetus of our leadership to go and reach out to the Centre, show that history, and ensure that they bring them all to Karnataka.”

Wadiyar’s remarks come amid growing inter-state lobbying for major industrial projects, with both Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh seeking strategic investments tied to central government establishments.
