Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today flagged off the newly launched Air India Express flight service from Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun, to Bengaluru, marking a significant boost to the state’s air connectivity.
With this launch, Air India Express becomes the third airline, after Air India and IndiGo, to operate direct services between Dehradun and Bengaluru. The new route is expected to enhance travel convenience for tourists, business travelers, and residents, while also strengthening economic and cultural ties between Uttarakhand and Karnataka.
Speaking at the inaugural event, Chief Minister Dhami highlighted the importance of improved air connectivity in supporting Uttarakhand’s growth. He said the new service will not only promote tourism—a key driver of the state’s economy—but also facilitate faster movement of professionals, entrepreneurs, and pilgrims. The improved link to a major IT hub like Bengaluru is anticipated to open new opportunities for investment and trade.
The Chief Minister further reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding aviation infrastructure and making Uttarakhand more accessible to travelers from across the country. Enhanced connectivity is expected to benefit both domestic and international tourists visiting the state’s famous pilgrimage sites, adventure destinations, and natural landscapes.
