The political landscape in Karnataka has been rocked by allegations of a massive scam involving the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), with Union Minister Pralhad Joshi demanding a thorough investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Speaking out on the issue, Joshi alleged that the scam amounts to over Rs 3800 crores and implicates the transfer of plots authorized by MUDA into the name of the wife of former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
According to Joshi, the former Deputy Commissioner, who has since been transferred, had raised concerns about irregularities in these land transfers and had sent more than 15 letters to the state government urging action and clarity from MUDA. The allegations have sparked a political firestorm, with calls for transparency and accountability echoing from various quarters.
“It is a more than Rs 3800 crores scam and the plots which duly authorised by MUDA have been transferred in the name of the wife of CM Siddaramaiah. There is a huge scam and the then DC who has now been transferred to cover up the same, had written more than 15 letters to the state government to look into the matter and show proper directions to MUDA… We are demanding a proper and impartial investigation and the state government should give it to the CBI,” stated Union Minister Pralhad Joshi.
The demand for a CBI investigation underscores the seriousness of the allegations, with Joshi and other opposition leaders stressing the need for an impartial probe to uncover the truth behind the alleged irregularities. The controversy has put pressure on the Karnataka state government to address the allegations promptly and transparently.
In response to these developments, supporters of the ruling party have urged for caution and due process, emphasizing the importance of allowing investigative agencies to carry out their duties without interference.
As the situation unfolds, Karnataka residents and political observers await further developments, anticipating the state government’s response to the demand for a CBI investigation into what could potentially be one of the largest scams in Karnataka’s recent history.
