PM Modi Urges Public Vigilance Against Fake Videos in Maharashtra Address

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a public rally in Satara, Maharashtra, delivered a stern warning against the escalating threat of fake videos on social media platforms, highlighting their potential to incite discord and disrupt democratic processes.

In a fervent address, PM Modi expressed grave concerns over the rampant dissemination of fabricated videos, alleging that they are being weaponized to sow seeds of division and undermine the peaceful conduct of elections. He asserted that these videos, engineered using Artificial Intelligence (AI), impersonate the voices of key BJP and NDA leaders, including his own, BJP President J.P. Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, and various Chief Ministers.

Modi denounced the surreptitious tactics employed by those seeking to spread misinformation, stating, “Those incapable of confronting the NDA and BJP directly resort to disseminating fake videos on social media.” He underscored the dangerous implications of these videos, which purport to convey statements that the leaders have never uttered or conceived.

The Prime Minister cautioned against the broader agenda behind these fabricated videos, suggesting that they are orchestrated to foment societal unrest and disrupt the democratic fabric of the nation. He issued a fervent appeal for heightened vigilance, urging the public to remain vigilant against the pernicious spread of misinformation and uphold the integrity of the electoral process.

Modi reassured citizens that the government is taking proactive measures to combat this insidious phenomenon and safeguard the sanctity of democracy. He emphasized the importance of collective action in combating the menace of fake news and preserving the foundational principles of democracy.

This incident underscores the urgent need for concerted efforts to address the proliferation of fake news and misinformation in the digital age. It underscores the imperative of fostering a culture of critical thinking and media literacy to counteract the dissemination of falsehoods and uphold the integrity of democratic institutions.
