PM Modi Advocates for Judicial Reforms to Propel India Towards a Viksit Bharat

In a landmark address at the National Conference of District Judiciary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reinforced the essential role of judicial reforms in India’s journey toward becoming a “Viksit Bharat” or Developed India. His speech called for a comprehensive modernization of the district judiciary, highlighting the need for technological integration and legislative updates to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the judicial system.

PM Modi focused on the critical need to modernize the district judiciary, describing it as a cornerstone of India’s legal infrastructure. He praised the ongoing e-Courts initiative, which has been instrumental in expediting case processing and reducing the backlog of cases. The Prime Minister emphasized that embracing digital tools is vital for creating a more streamlined and responsive judicial system.

A significant portion of Modi’s address was dedicated to the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), a reform aimed at revamping and consolidating existing laws into a more coherent and modern legal framework. The BNS is expected to simplify legal procedures and address gaps in the current system, thereby improving the overall administration of justice.

Modi also highlighted the importance of promptly handling cases related to violence against women. He argued that accelerating justice in these cases is crucial for ensuring the safety and security of women, who represent half of the nation’s population. The Prime Minister noted that timely resolution of such cases will not only provide immediate relief to victims but also enhance public confidence in the legal system and act as a deterrent to potential offenders.

“The promptness with which we address cases of violence against women is integral to reinforcing their safety and reinforcing the rule of law,” Modi said. His comments reflect a broader commitment to improving the judiciary’s responsiveness to urgent and sensitive issues.

The National Conference of District Judiciary provided a venue for discussing these pivotal reforms and exploring their implementation. The Prime Minister’s address underscored the government’s dedication to judicial modernization as a key component of India’s broader development agenda.

PM Modi’s focus on integrating technology, enacting legislative reforms, and expediting the resolution of critical cases signals a transformative approach to the judicial system. These changes are anticipated to play a crucial role in advancing India’s goal of becoming a more developed, just, and equitable society.
