Indian Railways to Launch More Vande Bharat Trains in Next Three Months

The Indian Railways is gearing up to roll out nearly a dozen new Vande Bharat trains in the coming three months, with final route decisions currently awaiting approval from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). This move underscores the government’s commitment to modernizing India’s transport infrastructure while pushing the boundaries of the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Since its debut on February 15, 2019, on the New Delhi-Kanpur-Allahabad-Varanasi route, the Vande Bharat Express has stood as a symbol of India’s aspirations for modern, efficient, and high-speed travel. Capable of reaching 160 km/h, the Vande Bharat has redefined passenger experience with its comfort, speed, and safety.

Currently, 102 Vande Bharat services (51 trains) are operational, connecting key cities across the Broad Gauge electrified network. The 2022–23 financial year saw a strong response with 31.84 lakh passengers booking travel on these trains, reflecting a high occupancy rate of 96.62%.

Expansion plans are underway for states including Bihar, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Karnataka (Bengaluru). The upcoming additions will further India’s goals of regional connectivity, economic development, and sustainable mobility.
