BJP’s Chalavadi Narayanaswamy Alleges Irregularities in Karnataka Govt’s MRI Machine Purchase Plan

BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, has accused the state Congress government of attempting to procure outdated MRI machines despite the availability of newer, more advanced technology in the market.

Speaking to the media, Narayanaswamy said, “They [the state government] wanted to purchase MRI machines. They want to buy the old model… It is not saleable, but they want to purchase the old machines.”

Criticizing what he described as a lack of transparency and foresight, he added, “The new technology is already in the market, but they are not buying it.”

The BJP leader’s remarks have sparked fresh controversy over the government’s procurement policies in the healthcare sector, raising concerns about potential misuse of public funds and the quality of services in state-run hospitals.

As of now, the Karnataka Health Department has not issued an official response to the allegations.
