BJP Youth Wing Chief Accepts Rahul Gandhi’s Debate Challenge

In a recent development, Tejasvi Surya, the Member of Parliament from Bangalore South and the chief of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), has accepted the open debate challenge put forth by former Congress chief, Rahul Gandhi. This comes days after Gandhi had thrown down the gauntlet to the BJP for an open discussion on critical governance issues.

Surya, in his response, expressed the BJYM’s appreciation for Gandhi’s willingness to engage in discussions and debates, especially amidst the demanding schedule of the 2024 Lok Sabha election campaign. He emphasized that the BJYM, being the youth wing of the BJP – the world’s largest political party, recognizes the critical need for open and active dialogue about the party’s vision and policies, particularly those shaping the future of the nation.

In a significant move, Surya nominated Shri Abhinav Prakash, the National Vice-President of the BJYM, as the representative for the upcoming debate. Prakash hails from Uttar Pradesh, a state that Gandhi has previously represented in Parliament. Furthermore, he belongs to the Dalit caste, Pasi, which constitutes over 30% of the scheduled caste population in Raebareli, a constituency long represented by Gandhi’s family and where he is a current electoral contender.

Prakash, an alumnus of Jawaharlal Nehru University and an assistant professor of economics at Delhi University’s Ramjas College, is expected to bring a profound understanding of social, economic, and political dynamics to the debate. His previous teaching stints at SRCC further add to his credentials.

The BJYM eagerly anticipates Gandhi’s acceptance of the challenge, setting the stage for what promises to be a historic debate. This debate is expected to be a face-off between the scion of a political dynasty, which has ruled India for the longest time since independence, and a commoner representing the new India of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji.
