BJP MLA SR Vishwanath has strongly criticized the Karnataka state government for implementing price hikes across multiple sectors, including the recent increase in water prices. Speaking out against the hikes, Vishwanath accused the Congress-led state government of exploiting the people while ignoring their concerns.
“We have been protesting against price hikes since yesterday, yet we see that DK Shivakumar has declared a hike in water prices, too,” Vishwanath said, expressing his discontent with the ongoing cost increases. He highlighted the growing burden on the residents of Karnataka, pointing out that essential services like water were now becoming more expensive under the current administration.
Vishwanath called for a public outcry, urging citizens to take to the streets in protest against the rising costs and what he described as government corruption. “The people must start protesting against price hikes and corruption,” he stated, stressing the need for collective action to hold the government accountable. He further warned that if the government continued with its policies, “Soon, the people will be out on the streets in protest, and then these people (the Karnataka government) will see that what they are doing is wrong.”
The comments come at a time when residents across the state are feeling the pressure of rising prices on essential goods and services. While the government justifies the hikes as necessary for sustaining infrastructure and public services, opposition leaders like Vishwanath argue that the price increases are an unfair burden on ordinary citizens.
As the state faces growing public frustration, Vishwanath’s words signal a rising wave of dissent, with the BJP rallying behind calls for greater accountability from the state government. The situation is expected to intensify if the government does not address the concerns of the people in the face of these continuing price hikes.
