BJP MLA and State BJP President BY Vijayendra has strongly criticized Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over his opposition to the Central Government’s amendment to the Waqf Act and the controversial decision to implement a 4% reservation for Muslims in state contracts. Vijayendra accused the CM of protecting “land grabbers” and indulging in “appeasement politics” to secure political gains.
Speaking to the media, Vijayendra condemned Siddaramaiah’s government for passing a bill that forcefully opposed the central amendment aimed at increasing transparency in Waqf management. “CM Siddaramaiah had passed a bill forcefully opposing the amendment made by the Central Government to Waqf. The motive is clear: When Modi ji is interested in bringing transparency to Waqf, the Siddaramaiah government wants to protect the land grabbers,” he said. He further alleged that Congress leaders were directly involved in a “land grab scam” related to Waqf properties. “BJP will expose the Congress government before the people of Karnataka,” Vijayendra added.
The Waqf Act amendment, which aims to ensure greater accountability and transparency in the management of Waqf properties, has become a point of contention between the state and central governments. While the Central Government pushes for reforms to prevent misuse, the opposition, including the Congress-led Karnataka government, has raised concerns about the potential centralization of control.
Additionally, Vijayendra took a strong stance against the 4% reservation for Muslims in state contracts, which the Karnataka government has introduced. He called it “unfortunate” and questioned why the government was targeting only one community. “Bringing 4% reservation for Muslims in contracts is very unfortunate. Doesn’t he see any other people in the Hindu community? Why this appeasement politics?” Vijayendra asked, implying that such policies divided society along religious lines.
He went on to say that the state’s law and order were deteriorating due to what he called “appeasement politics.” “The state’s law and order are deteriorating day by day due to appeasement politics,” Vijayendra claimed. “BJP will take it to the streets on issues of Waqf amendment and 4% quota for Muslims.”
The 4% reservation for Muslims in Karnataka has sparked widespread debate, with critics accusing the government of favoring one community while others argue it is a necessary measure to uplift marginalized groups.
With the state’s political landscape heating up, Vijayendra’s comments signal that the BJP plans to escalate its opposition to the Congress government, particularly in the run-up to the 2026 Karnataka elections. The ongoing controversy over Waqf properties, reservation policies, and charges of corruption is set to remain a focal point in Karnataka’s political discourse.
