BJP leader slams Karnataka government for reversing NEP.

Bengaluru: BJP leader and former deputy chief minister C.N. Ashwath Narayan on Monday criticized the Karnataka government for taking back the National Education Policy (NEP) that was implemented by the previous regime. He accused the ruling party of playing with the students’ future and harming the interests of the society.

“The National Education Policy has been implemented in Karnataka for the last three years. Irrespective of the government, the policy was taken forward throughout the country. But in Karnataka, there is a party, which is playing with the students. And it is going to impact all walks of society, including minorities, the poor, and the reserved classes,” Narayan said in a press conference.

He said that the NEP was very futuristic, promising and realistic from all angles, and that it offered a choice to the students to pursue a four-year degree or a three-year degree, depending on their preference and career goals. He said that the State Education Policy, which was recently announced by the Karnataka government, was against the four-year degree and that it would limit the opportunities and employability of the students.

“The present government is insensitive and does not understand the entire policy. It is trying to play a political vendetta against the interest of the students. We have already conducted a lot of awareness programs and now we will approach the governor and request him to intervene and restore the NEP in the state. Whatever of the NEP had been implemented in the state by the previous government should be taken forward,” he added.

Narayan also claimed that the NEP had received positive feedback from the students, parents, teachers and experts, and that it was aligned with the global standards and best practices. He said that the BJP would continue to fight for the implementation of the NEP and protect the rights of the students. He urged the people of Karnataka to support the NEP and oppose the State Education Policy.
