Bengaluru: The Vande Bharat Express, which has revolutionized the Indian Railways with its high-speed and modern features, is set to offer a new experience to passengers. The Railways is planning to introduce the sleeper version of the Vande Bharat trains, which will allow travellers to enjoy a comfortable overnight journey.
The sleeper coaches of the Vande Bharat trains are being manufactured at the Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) in Bengaluru and the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. The prototype of the sleeper version is expected to be ready by March this year, and the first set of trains will be rolled out by April.
The Vande Bharat sleeper trains will have 16 AC1 tier coaches, with a total capacity of 850 berths. The trains will be equipped with advanced features such as special lighting, automatic doors, CCTV cameras, bio-toilets, and Kavach system for safety and security. The trains will also have a maximum speed of 200 kmph, which will reduce the travel time significantly.
The Vande Bharat sleeper trains will initially run on some select routes, such as Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Howrah, and Delhi-Patna. The Railways hopes that the new trains will enhance the passenger satisfaction and attract more tourists and investors to the country. The Vande Bharat sleeper trains are part of the Railways’ vision to upgrade the infrastructure and quality of service in the sector.
