Bengaluru to get new flyover and overbridge for Rs 263 crore.

The Karnataka cabinet has approved a project to construct an elevated rotary flyover and a railway overbridge near the Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal railway station in Bengaluru. The project, which is estimated to cost Rs 263 crore, aims to provide better connectivity and ease traffic congestion in the area.

The elevated flyover will be built at the IOC Junction and will connect the terminal with Old Madras Road, Fraser Town, Kammanahalli and Banswadi. The railway overbridge will be an additional two-lane structure at the Baiyappanahalli railway level crossing. The project is expected to benefit commuters, especially those travelling to and from the terminal, which is the third railway station in the city.

The cabinet also gave post-facto approval for various development works and whitetopping of roads in Bengaluru, worth around Rs 1,200 crore. The works include reconstruction of storm-water drains, construction of reinforced cement concrete walls along the drains, and laying of new water supply lines to 110 villages that were added to the BBMP limits.

The project is part of the state government’s efforts to improve the infrastructure and quality of life in Bengaluru, which is facing several challenges such as traffic jams, water scarcity, air pollution and garbage disposal. The government hopes that the project will boost the city’s image and attract more investments and tourists.
