Bengaluru: On Central government declaring holiday on occasion of Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya,

The declaration of a national holiday by the Central government on the occasion of the “Pran Pratishtha” ceremony in Ayodhya has sparked debate in Karnataka, with the state BJP President, Vijayendra Yediyurappa, urging the state government to follow suit.

“Tomorrow is a historic day for people all over the world,” Yediyurappa stated. “The BJP and JDS have together urged the state government to declare a holiday to give people the opportunity to witness this momentous event. However, the present Congress government is yet to take any decision.”

The BJP leader further criticized the government’s silence, stating, “Even now, it’s not too late. Declaring a state holiday would allow people to participate in celebrations, watch the ceremony on television, and offer their prayers. This is a matter of faith and national pride, and the government should not hesitate to acknowledge its significance.”

The Congress, however, has maintained a neutral stance on the issue. Speaking to reporters, a senior party spokesperson said, “This is a religious event, and we respect the sentiments of the people. However, decisions regarding holidays are taken based on several factors, and the government will make a decision after considering all aspects.”

The debate has divided public opinion in Karnataka. While some support the BJP’s call, citing the event’s importance and the potential surge in religious fervor, others argue that holidays should be reserved for secular occasions and that forcing people to participate in religious celebrations is inappropriate.

As Bengaluru awaits the outcome of the Congress government’s decision, the anticipation for the Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya continues to build. Tomorrow’s events have the potential to shape the cultural and historical narrative of the nation, making it imperative that the state government recognizes the significance of the day and declares a holiday. Will Karnataka be a part of this historic celebration, or will its citizens miss the opportunity to witness the Pran Pratishtha ceremony? Only time will tell.
