Bengaluru: Neeraj Chopra Inaugurates Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025, Calls It a Dream Come True

India’s Olympic gold medalist and World Champion Neeraj Chopra expressed heartfelt emotions during the inauguration of the Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025 in Bengaluru. The event, a landmark in Indian athletics, features international javelin stars competing on home soil—something Chopra described as “a dream I never imagined.”

Speaking at the ceremony, Chopra reflected on his journey, saying, “I think all this is written in one’s destiny. I worked hard. The background I come from is not like this. There was no javelin thrower or athlete in the family. But the journey has been terrific.”

The event is India’s first international athletics meet dedicated to javelin, a significant milestone not just for the athlete but also for Indian track and field. Chopra noted the emotional significance of competing in India, adding, “Everyone is so happy to be here. It feels great to see such things happening that I had never even dreamt of.”

The competition aims to inspire young Indian athletes and promote world-class athletics infrastructure in the country. With Chopra’s participation and global athletes joining in, the Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025 has set the tone for India’s growing presence on the international athletics stage.
