Bengaluru Water Crisis: BJP MP Tejasvi Surya Calls for Government Action

MAHARASHTRA – BJP MP Tejasvi Surya has voiced his concerns over the escalating water crisis in Bengaluru. He criticized the government for its lack of action despite warnings from experts about the failing monsoons.

“Hundreds of apartments do not even have a single drop of drinking water,” Surya said, highlighting the severity of the situation. He added that close to 50% of the city’s bore wells have dried up, leaving residents in a dire state.

The government’s proposed solution, to take over the water tankers, has been met with criticism from Surya. He argues that this move disrupts an already existing supply chain, thereby exacerbating the problem.

Surya recently met with the chairman of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) and offered a few suggestions. He emphasized the need for industrial complexes, which use a significant amount of water for construction activity, to be supplied with treated water for non-potable use.

“Drinking water must be used sparingly and must be adequately redistributed in areas where there is a need and shortage,” Surya stated. He also suggested that the 1300 million liters per day (MLD) of water treated in the city should be sent to the lakes to recharge the aquifers and give the bore wells a new lease of life.

In a call to action, Surya announced that the BJP will stage a massive protest in front of Vidhan Soudha. The aim is to urge the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister to address the water crisis urgently.

“The government needs to finally wake up and do their duties,” Surya concluded, expressing hope that his call to action will bring about much-needed change in the city’s water management.
