BENGALURU – Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai has criticized the current state government’s handling of the Rameshwaram blast case, suggesting that its leniency may have allowed the culprits to escape.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has recently taken over the investigation of the case. Bommai stated that the NIA has the authority to book a case anywhere in India if there is a suspected terror link. “After a preliminary investigation, it has been found that there might be a terror link,” Bommai said.
Bommai expressed concern over the state government’s approach to the case, accusing it of taking the matter too lightly. “You have given a lot of time for a culprit to move out of the city, out of the state and out of the country,” he said.
The former CM suggested that this leniency reflects a broader attitude within the current government, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. “This is the lenient view of the present Siddaramaiah government and is very soft towards such activities,” Bommai added.
The Rameshwaram blast case has drawn national attention, and the NIA’s involvement underscores the seriousness of the situation. It remains to be seen how the investigation will progress under the agency’s direction and whether Bommai’s criticisms will prompt a change in the state government’s approach to such cases.
