Bengaluru: Reacting to Congress leader Priyank Kharge’s letter to the Chief Minister, Karnataka Legislative Council Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy on Monday came out in strong defense of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), describing it as an organization deeply rooted in patriotism and Indian cultural values.
Addressing reporters in Bengaluru, Narayanaswamy said, “He (Priyank Kharge) has always been an opponent of RSS. RSS is not a political outfit. People love RSS because they are all patriots. They are working to strengthen Indian culture.”
The BJP leader accused Kharge of repeatedly targeting the RSS for political reasons and said such attacks were unwarranted. “It has become a habit for some Congress leaders to criticize RSS without understanding its contribution to society. The organization has been involved in nation-building, social service, and cultural preservation for decades,” he added.
Narayanaswamy further noted that the RSS continues to enjoy widespread respect among citizens for its volunteer-driven initiatives in areas such as education, disaster relief, and rural development. “People recognize the dedication of RSS members who work selflessly for the nation’s unity and progress,” he remarked.
His comments come amid renewed political debate in Karnataka after Priyank Kharge’s letter raised objections against RSS-related activities. The exchange has once again brought the ideological divide between the ruling Congress and the opposition BJP to the forefront.
