India-UK Partnership Strengthening in Technology and Critical Minerals: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the growing strength of the India–UK technology and strategic partnership, underscoring significant progress in areas of innovation, trade, and resource development. Speaking at an event in Bengaluru, Vaishnaw said, “India and the UK have a very strong technology and strategic partnership. We have an FTA signed between the two countries and we have seen so much collaboration, co-creation, and co-development; we have seen the development of new technologies together.”

He pointed out that both nations are now focusing on rare earths and critical minerals, which are crucial for advanced manufacturing and clean energy technologies. “Recently, the Union Cabinet approved a critical minerals mission and we are working with people who understand the processing of rare earths because India has very good deposits of rare earth beach sands. We must develop our processing technologies. That’s the next goal we are working on, and I think we’ll be able to do that in a very reasonable way,” he added.

The minister emphasized that this collaboration will help both nations leverage their expertise to create sustainable supply chains and technological advancements, positioning India as a key global player in the strategic minerals sector.
