Karnataka Opposition Leader R Ashoka Announces Padyatra Against CM Siddaramaiah Over Alleged Scandal

Bengaluru — R Ashoka, the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Karnataka, has announced a major political mobilization aimed at Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The planned ‘padyatra’ (foot march) is set to challenge the state government over allegations of misappropriation of funds intended for the welfare of the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community.

In a press briefing, Ashoka accused the Congress government of embezzling funds meant for ST welfare programs. “We will start a padyatra against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The money allocated for the welfare of the Scheduled Tribe community has been looted by the Congress government. This is a massive scandal in Karnataka, and CM Siddaramaiah is implicated in these scams,” Ashoka charged.

The padyatra is expected to draw substantial participation from national leaders of both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal (Secular) [JD(S)]. By organizing this march, the opposition aims to mobilize public sentiment against the state government and highlight their accusations of financial misconduct and corruption.

Ashoka’s allegations mark a significant escalation in political tensions in Karnataka. The opposition’s move reflects growing dissatisfaction with the current administration’s handling of welfare funds and its broader governance record. The padyatra will serve as a platform for the BJP and JD(S) to address these grievances directly to the public and build momentum for their cause.

As preparations for the padyatra commence, the state government’s response to these allegations will be closely scrutinized. The outcome of this political campaign could have substantial implications for Karnataka’s political landscape, potentially influencing voter perceptions and shaping the forthcoming electoral battles.
