Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Historic Visit to Italy for G7 Outreach Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set off on a significant journey to Italy, marking his first international trip after being re-elected for an extraordinary third consecutive term. The purpose of this visit is to participate in the G7 Outreach Summit, a global event that brings together leaders from the world’s most influential economies.

In his departure statement, Prime Minister Modi expressed his satisfaction that his first state visit in his third term is to Italy, a nation with which India shares a rich history and strong ties. The visit is particularly significant as it is for the G7 Summit, a platform that fosters global cooperation and dialogue.

Prime Minister Modi reflected on his previous visit to Italy and the reciprocal visits of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to India. These interactions have played a crucial role in enhancing the bilateral relations between the two countries.

“I am glad that my first visit in the third consecutive term is to Italy for the G-7 Summit,” PM Modi said. He warmly recalled his participation in the G20 Summit in Italy in 2021, a landmark event in the global diplomatic calendar.

Prime Minister Meloni’s two visits to India last year were key in adding momentum and depth to our bilateral agenda. These visits have not only fortified the strategic partnership between India and Italy but also paved the way for increased cooperation in various sectors.

“We remain committed to consolidating the India-Italy strategic partnership, and bolstering cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and the Mediterranean regions,” PM Modi stated.

This visit is expected to further strengthen the robust ties between India and Italy, and foster cooperation on global issues among the G7 nations. As the world watches, the outcomes of this visit could have far-reaching implications for India’s foreign policy in the coming years.
