BENGALURU, KARNATAKA – Following her recent induction into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Independent Member of Parliament (MP) from Mandya, Sumalatha Ambareesh, expressed her joy and gratitude at a press conference held in Bengaluru today.
“It’s a day of great significance for my political career,” said Ambareesh, who won a historic victory in Mandya. “I will never forget that moment. Many of my supporters and Ambareesh’s followers supported me. BJP supported me from the outside, PM Narendra Modi, when he came to Mysuru, though I’m an independent, campaigned for me. Even Ambareesh’s followers in Mandya will never forget that.”
Ambareesh, the widow of popular actor and former minister M.H. Ambareesh, had contested and won the Mandya Lok Sabha seat as an independent candidate in the 2019 general elections. Her husband, M.H. Ambareesh, was a member of the Congress for more than 25 years.
“I am blessed to have such blessings from BJP leaders which is my inspiration,” she continued. “PM Narendra Modi is my inspiration, I learnt a lot whenever the PM spoke in Parliament, and after looking at all of this, I decided to join BJP.”
She also expressed her gratitude towards former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa for his support. “When B.S. Yediyurappa was CM he supported me a lot, he gave support. Modi is a person who walks the talk.”
Sumalatha Ambareesh concluded her statement by saying, “It’s the happiest day for me. I wish to have everyone’s blessings.”
This development is expected to bring a significant shift in the political dynamics of Karnataka. It remains to be seen how this will impact the upcoming state assembly elections.
