Independent MP Sumalatha Ambareesh Joins Bharatiya Janata Party

BENGALURU, KARNATAKA – In a significant political development, Independent Member of Parliament (MP) from Mandya, Sumalatha Ambareesh, has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Ambareesh, who has been serving as an Independent MP in the Lok Sabha, made the announcement at a press conference held in Bengaluru today. The move comes ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections, adding a new dimension to the political landscape of Karnataka.

Sumalatha Ambareesh, the widow of popular actor and former minister M.H. Ambareesh, had contested and won the Mandya Lok Sabha seat as an independent candidate in the 2019 general elections. Her decision to join the BJP is seen as a significant boost for the party in the state.

“I have taken this decision after much thought and consideration,” said Ambareesh. “I believe that under the leadership of the BJP, we can work towards the development and progress of our constituency and the state.”

The BJP leadership has welcomed Ambareesh into the party fold. “We are delighted to have Sumalatha Ambareesh in our party. Her experience and popularity will undoubtedly strengthen our party in Karnataka,” said a senior BJP leader.

With this move, the political dynamics in Karnataka are set to witness a significant shift. It remains to be seen how this development will impact the upcoming state assembly elections.
