Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project Reaches New Milestone with Land Allocation

BENGALURU – The Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project (BSRP) marked a significant achievement on Tuesday as the South Western Railway allocated 114.472 acres of land for the development of Corridor-4, which stretches from Heelalige to Rajanukunte within the city.

The land was reportedly transferred to the Rail Infrastructure Development Company-Karnataka Limited (K-RIDE), the entity responsible for executing Corridor-4. This corridor is commonly referred to as the ‘Kanaka Line’.

In addition to this, a lease agreement for revised Railway land was signed, effectively reducing the area from 157.07 acres to 85.707 acres for Corridor-2. This corridor is known as the ‘Mallige Line’.

These developments represent a significant step forward in the BSRP’s mission to enhance connectivity and reduce congestion in one of India’s most populous cities. The project aims to provide a reliable, efficient, and sustainable mode of transport for the city’s residents.

Further details about the project’s timeline and the expected completion dates for the Kanaka and Mallige Lines will be released in due course. The BSRP and K-RIDE are committed to keeping the public informed about the project’s progress and any significant developments.
